LAKE ALPINE

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves." John Muir

Take a ride on the Lake Alpine Resort Taxi.  Here is what the locals are saying about

the ride and the resorts winter program.

"On Saturday afternoon, a friend invited us along to ride up to Lake Alpine Resort, in order to check

out the facilities before the storms arrived. After calling ahead and asking about the “shuttle service”,

from the locked gate to the resort, arrangements were made to meet at the gate in 35 minutes. Great!

Steve, one of the new owners, was waiting at the gate with a 5 passenger bright blue 1977 enclosed

sno-cat, ready to go. He even came equipped with a “loaner” snow park pass for the windshield of our car.

The ½ mile ride in the cat was a real treat, as we’ve never been in one before. As it lumbered along,

Steve filled in details of all the activities getting the place ready for winter activities

The resort looks great in winter, helped by the fact that all the cars and trucks that park  in the lot in the

warm season, are now gone. The surrounding view is pristine and timeless.  This could be 1940, 1960

or 2007. Once inside, we went straight for the fireplace in the  big wood dining room to warm up a bit.

Then, to the cozy bar, where a few patrons were chatting.

Steve, Gigi, friends and staff are working real hard to see their dreams succeed. Some of the cabins

are now open for winter rentals 7 days a week, and have plenty of heat for the chilly nights

(some even have wood stoves). After a tour of  2 of the cabins (they both looked great for active families,

were cozy, and neat as a pin), we settled down to a beer by the fire.

Bar and restaurant open Thursday thru Sunday (and Monday night football), and 7 days a week during holidays.

Their phone number is (209) 753-6350. Remember to call ahead for shuttle service, if needed."
